Correction of Crooked / Malaligned Teeth
The crooked teeth are corrected by either Fixed appliances or Removable appliances depending on case. Various types of fixed and removable appliances are available. The option is given according to case. Generally the treatment is carried out at around 12 years of age but it can be carried out at any age even an adult can go for it. A child below 12 years can also go for Preventive or Interceptive Orthodontics to prevent occurrence of crooked teeth in future
Treatment with braces – labial, lingual, ceramic, self ligating
Orthodontic treatment (dental braces): The use of devices to move teeth or adjust underlying bone. The ideal age for starting orthodontic treatment is between ages 3 to 12 years. Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) problems can be corrected with splinting or dental braces. Teeth can be moved by removable appliances or by fixed braces.
Crowding of teeth can require the extraction of teeth. Retainers may be necessary long after dental braces are placed, especially with orthodontic treatment of adults
Treatment using orthodontic implants
“Dental implants are changing the way orthodontics is being practiced,” said Frank Celenza, DDS, associate clinical professor, New York University College of Dentistry. “In conventional orthodontics, teeth are used to move other teeth, but implants can serve as excellent anchors from which force is applied to move the targeted teeth without causing shifts in other teeth.”

Non –Extraction and Extraction (if required) Treatment Options
Non-Extraction Orthodontics is the straightening of a person’s teeth without extraction or removal of any permanent teeth. It is an alternative method of treatment that allows a patient to retain all of his or her teeth while having the teeth straightened.
Many times, teeth appear too large for a person’s jaw. We believe it is not the teeth that are too large, rather it is the jaw that is too small for the teeth. This often results in crowded, or “buck” teeth — something that occurs in about half of all children.
Non-Extraction Orthodontics corrects these crowded (or “protrusive”) conditions by developing the jaw to accommodate all permanent teeth, thereby eliminating the need for extractions.
Functional appliances could be utilized to develop or to expand the jaw in adults and children, creating sufficient space for straight teeth to come.
Attractive Smiles –
When jaws are developed enough to accommodate all of the permanent teeth, a person’s smile is enhanced. It becomes wider and more noticeable.Often, far more flattering to a person’s face. Many of our patients tell us they feel their smile has now become their best feature!
Less Time Wearing Braces –
The longer one wears braces, the greater the chances for cavities or tooth scars to develop. Functional appliances do most of the work in Non-Extraction Orthodontics, minimizing the time needed to wear braces. Often, braces are worn less than a year.
Excellent Retention –
Development or expansion of the jawbones is generally considered permanent, as is the growth of any bone. Of course, retainers must be worn regularly, and habits which cause improper dental and jaw development need to be eliminated for optimum results.
If possible, four teeth could be saved -
Traditionally, the four bicuspid teeth (premolars) are removed before the remaining teeth are straightened. In Non-Extraction Orthodontics, these teeth are not removed. Not only is space developed to accommodate the four bicuspids, but often, growth is sufficient in post-molar areas to let the wisdom teeth erupt easily!
